January 25 Still HereOkay, I haven't been on in a while because my 6 month old computer's hard drive crashed last Friday and I have spent the last week downloading, uploading, reloading, etc. I've done pretty well considering the stress of it all but I don't feel like I've lost. I haven't weighed yet this morning (my official weigh-in day) but will in a little while. If I surprise myself, I will report it. I apologize to those of you who have received my invitation to view my weekly "Thought for the Week" blog as I obviously didn't post one last weekend because of my computer situation. I will have one posted this weekend. Hope everyone is sticking with the plan and seeing progress. WE CAN DO IT! Debbi January 16 Here We Gooooooooooo.... Wow! Already Wednesday!! Where is the time going? Well, I did really good this weekend. I had a feeling on Friday that it wouldn't be a challenge for me like it usually is. Why? I dunno - I just had a feelin' and that feelin' was right. I guess just having a sense that things are working (even though the scales aren't showing great strides) gives me the motivation to work even harder. I remember when I was first beginning my weight loss journey and how the pounds were just melting off each week. I knew at that time that as I got closer to my goal, that the large numbers would taper so I was prepared. Now I rely on how my body "feels" (check out my latest blog on my Thought for the Week page of my website) and how my clothes fit way more than what the scales show. By the way, "large" numbers should average no more than 2 lbs per week to be safe and keep it off long term. You may lose 4 one week but 1 the next and that is good. If you are losing more than 2 lbs per week consistently, then re-evaluate. It may look good but remember, we are doing this for the long haul. I have been consuming too much sodium this week. I go through spurts of wanting 100 calorie pack popcorn (kettle corn is my fave) and so each evening I have had that as a snack. The taste, the crunch and the calories are good for a snack but man oh man...the sodium! I will not have it the next two days before weigh-in on Friday. Oh, in case you have missed it - there is a website where you can send them a picture of yourself along with how much you want to lose and they alter your picture so you can see what you will look like when you reach that goal. I am BIG into SEEING your goals (as you will gather from my No More Weighting website) so I think this is a wonderful tool! It is www.weightview.com Okay, better get busy for the day. Have a great rest of the week and stay focused. ~ Debbi January 11 Gettin' in Gear! Praise God - the mississippi has calmed. Okay, if you don't know what I'm talking about, read my last blog. My official weigh-in day is Friday and so I stepped on the scales this morning. Bummer...only lost 1/2 of a pound! That is okay, I did have a meal with a lot of sodium yesterday and I know that water retention can be a big deceiver. Although I wasn't able to give it my all this week in Jazzercise due to the "mighty river flowin'", I did work out and I am completely back on track with my eating. Can I just tell you how important it is to Bite and Write??? It is SO important because if you do not keep a log of everything that goes into your mouth, you will consume several 100 calories from a small bite here and a small bite there without even thinking about it. I feel so much better and even though the scales did not go down this week, my body is feeling like it is toning. I can tell I'm really gettin' in gear! I missed a lot of exercise last month with commitments due to the time of year. I'm back to working out 3 days in Jazzercise class and 3 Personal Touch (strength training) classes per week. By the way, for those of you who hear "Jazzercise" and think thong leotards and leg warmers, let me just challenge you to try a class. They are FUN, up to date using top 40 songs for their routines, a mixture of all types of music, funky routines (my favorite), aerobic and strength training all-in-one and bottom line...a kick-butt class! You WILL come away knowing you've worked out and may just find you want to soak in the tub the next morning. Well, I'm ready for the weekend and feel confident that it will not be a challenge to stay on track. I'm determined to lose the rest of this weight in 2008!!! I know that we ALL will do just that and together we will meet the Million Pound Match-Up! Have a blessed weekend ~ Debbi January 08 A Good Start Despite... ...despite the fact that I started on Saturday afternoon with feeling the signs of a sore throat which turned into a nose that is running like the Mississippi! I had so much to do at church Sunday (I'm the Children's and Young Adults Ministry Director) that I decided to go ahead and force myself up as I knew it was just sinus stuff and not contagious. I didn't think I would make it through the morning, but I did. Then Monday morning rolls around and (that is when the Mississippi REALLY started forcing the flood gates) it is Jazzercise time. Oh, how I didn't want to go! I wanted to stay in bed and "nurse" my head but since I am a class manager and had responsibilities, I went. Of course on the way I told myself that I didn't have to work out if I didn't feel like it. Once I got there I figured I'd take my roll of toilet paper (ok - not really, it was half a box of tissues) and set them next to my water bottle and do only as much as I felt like. An hour later, I was dripping - no...not from the Mississippi (the tissues were full however) but from sweat. And ya know what? I actually felt better! This morning I woke up and as you can guess - it has settled in my chest. Now I can hardly breath from a stopped up nose and heaviness in the chest but once again, I have responsibilities. So...I tell myself the same thing...I will not work out. But, the music starts...the beats are jammin and I can't help myself. My body (and my other half of box of tissues) find their way to the dance floor and once again, an hour later. I'm feeling better. I even decide to stay for Personal Touch (strength training)! I'm so glad I did. Tonight was a big night...Biggest Loser Night. It is so funny - we typically are not people who get hooked on shows but I started watching a couple of seasons ago and immediately got hooked. I couldn't get David to watch - he just "isn't into those kind of shows". Last season he watch the last several shows and this season we are 2 for 2. Not only that, he decided to tackle the treadmill after the show. Woohoo!!! He really IS gonna do it!! Okay, nuff said. Have an awesome and blessed week ~ Debbi January 04 We're On Our Way! Hey everyone! Well, we are on our way to reaching our goals to live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives! The weekend is upon us and my experience has shown that this can be the toughest time of the week to stay on track so here is a suggestion... ...take one meal a week that you splurge and have whatever you want. I have found that by having this meal to look forward to, I can make it through the week (and as you can guess, my day is usually Saturday for my 'splurge'). It is also important to make sure that you learn how to eat without deprivation. In other words, if you deprive yourself of all the things you love, then eventually you will go back to those things (and usually with a vengeance!) If you learn to have those things you love, IN MODERATION, then you will never feel deprived. Here is an example - as I mentioned before, I have jumped on every 'trend diet' created - let me share my experience with the "no fat diet". I cut all fats from my diet - would allow myself no more than 10 grams per day. I lost a lot of weight and rather quickly. But once I realized that I could not go the rest of my life without fats, I gained it all back plus some! I can not live the rest of my life without fats - that is deprivation! As a matter of fact, the six nutrients that we all need to be at our full health are:
Okay, I guess I should stop for now. As you can tell I am truly passionate about sharing and helping others find success in reaching their goals. The really cool thing is - by sharing with you, I am "preaching" to myself as well. Have an awesome weekend, make wise choices and HAVE FUN! |
Thank you for stopping by our site! We pray that you receive the provisions and the blessing that God has given you. You can do all things through Him!
